Head of Business Development

Location: Boston, MA

PatientPing is a venture-backed health technology company based in Boston, MA that is transforming healthcare delivery. We are building a national network that connects providers with real-time notifications when their patients receive care anywhere, so that providers can better coordinate patient care. Our customers include hundreds of health systems, physician organizations, and post-acute care providers across the country. Our vision is bold – to build a national care coordination network that allows providers to put patients at the center of their care.

Job Description:

We are actively hiring a full-time Head of Business Development who will help  PatientPing accelerate growth through strategic partnerships. The Head of Business Development will principally be in charge of identifying, evaluating, and structuring strategic business alliances and partnerships to build PatientPing's network of community participants. Additionally, they will evaluate and develop new product and service opportunities to accelerate revenue growth. 

The ideal candidate has deep healthcare domain experience and is able to quickly understand local market forces shaping relationships between payers, providers, regional and state health information exchanges (HIEs), technology vendors, state government agencies, and other market participants. Furthermore, successful candidates will enjoy interacting with people and building relationships, thinking intensely analytically, creatively, and strategically, and closing new business opportunities. The Head of Business Development will succeed if they are innately entrepreneurial, analytical, passionate about spreading our service and have a lot of hustle.

What You Will Do:

  • Identify and structure deals to partner with potential data sources, companies that will enhance our application functionality, distribution partners to increase our reach, new customer segments interested in our core service, and other creative opportunities that you dream up
  • Systematically evaluate the financial value of new product development opportunities, customer segments, and geographies
  • Work with the Growth team to shape accelerate new market development
  • Work closely with Product team to evaluate new business development opportunities
  • Work on special projects as relevant
  • Report to the CEO

What You Need:

  • 8+ years of finance, strategy consulting, or provider/payer, HIT, or other closely-related business development function
  • BA/BS degree
  • Deep familiarity with public and private value-based reimbursement and health system transformation efforts underway (e.g. Medicare and commercial ACOs, private payer quality improvement programs, value-based purchasing, chronic care management and transitions of care management codes, bundled payments, etc.)
  • Understand HIE and HIT landscape
  • Tenacious and sharp problem solver who is motivated by seemingly intractable challenges
  • Eagerness to be at the forefront of health system transformation with an entrepreneurial and trailblazing spirit
  • Persuasive and engaging communications skills, strong relationship-building skills, and a charimsatic leadership style that inspires those around you 
  • Track record of proactively getting things done (this also means you are comfortable with ambiguity)
  • Ability to learn fast and be deeply analytical
